The Backpacker Station

The rooms at The Backpacker Station range from private rooms with a queen bed, a double bed or two single beds, to family rooms with two bunk beds that sleep up to four guests. Women-only bunk beds are offered in a 4-bed dormitory, with a lower bunk and an upper bunk.

Rooms can have air conditioning, a fan, slippers, free bottled water, a clothes rack and a shower. A balcony or terrace is part of the female-only lower bunk room, the family room with bunk beds, the twin room and the double room, while a flat-screen TV or a kettle is found in some of the private rooms.

Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, and parking is available, including bicycle parking. English and Thai are spoken at the property, CCTV covers the common areas and the property has 24-hour security.

The property stands on Chaeng Wattana Road in Pak Kret, a district of Nonthaburi province on the northern edge of Bangkok. The area is more residential than the tourist districts of central Bangkok, with local markets, temples and shophouses along the roads. Don Mueang International Airport, the nearest airport, is a practical stop for travellers flying in and out of the city, and life around the hotel is local, with everyday shops and street life rather than the sights of the old city.

Wat Chonprathan, a Buddhist temple with a pagoda, is 900 m from the property, and Chonprathan Market, a neighbourhood market for everyday shopping, is 1.7 km away. For getting around, the metro is the nearest public transport: Pak Kret Bypass MRT Station is 200 m away, and Yaek Pak Kret MRT Station is 950 m away. A taxi or private car covers the trip from the airport.

A day could start at Chatuchak Weekend Market, 12.5 km away and open at weekends, and end on Khaosan Road, the backpacker street with guesthouses, bars and street food stalls. The Grand Palace and the temples of the old city are further into Bangkok, a longer trip than the markets.
