Jim Thompson House, a traditional Thai house museum, is a little further on, and the Grand Palace is 9.4 km away.

Don Mueang International Airport is 15.1 km away and Suvarnabhumi Airport is 21.7 km away, so the two airports are quite far apart from each other. A good day could start at the Chatuchak Weekend Market and continue to the Grand Palace, and Wat Arun, the temple with a tall tiered spire, stands on the Chao Phraya river across from it.
