Boats along the river link the district with the old city, and the canals show a slower side of Bangkok.

Wongwian Yai BTS station, 550 m away, is the nearest rail link, and it connects the area with the central districts on the other side of the river. Krung Thon Buri BTS station is also nearby, at 800 m. King Taksin Monument stands nearby, honouring the king who made Thonburi his capital. Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, is 2.6 km away on the same bank, with its tall spire rising above the river.

A good day can start with a ride on the Chao Phraya ferries from the nearby piers, visiting the Grand Palace and the temples of the old city across the river before heading back. Khaosan Road, 4.2 km away, is the backpacker street with bars and street food, and Asiatique The Riverfront is a riverside shopping complex that makes a relaxed evening stop.
