Sungthong Kamala Beach Resort

Rooms at Sungthong Kamala Beach Resort come with a queen, king or double bed, and several of them have a pool view, a street view or a balcony. Some rooms have a private bathroom with a shower, and rooms can have air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a telephone and blackout curtains.

Free WiFi is available in all rooms. The Grand Deluxe measures 50 m², the Premium Room 30 m², and the Deluxe Room with Balcony sleeps up to four guests. Kamala is a beach area on Phuket's west coast, just north of Patong. The bay is calmer than Patong, with a sandy beach, a few shops and small eateries along the road, and the hotel is a few hundred metres from the sand. Kamala is a quieter base for those who want beach time without the crowds of the island's busiest beach town, and it suits a stay built around the pool and the garden as much as around day trips.

Phuket FantaSea, a large cultural theme park with an evening show, is 1.3 km away, and Patong Beach, with its nightlife and restaurants, is 4.9 km away. The island's sights are spread across a wide area, so a taxi or hire car makes it easier to reach them, and Phuket International Airport is 18.5 km away. Big C Market is 150 m from the resort for everyday shopping, and the resort's own shuttle service and tours can help with trips further afield.

A day out could combine the beach at Kamala with a visit to Chaithararam Temple (Wat Chalong), one of the island's most important temples, and the Big Buddha on its hill. Those two sights lie inland, away from the coast, so the trip is best made by car.
