Location & what to see
Surawong Road runs through Silom, Bangkok's central business district, where office towers stand beside street-food stalls and small shophouses. Sunflower Place is in the Bangrak area, and the streets around it mix offices, tailors and food stalls. Silom is busy through the working day, and the lanes running off the main road are lined with small shops. From here, the Skytrain and subway reach the central districts, while the temples on the far side of the river are usually a taxi ride away.
The rail links are close. Chong Nonsi BTS station and Sam Yan MRT station are both 500 m away, so many trips across the city do not need a taxi. Patpong Night Market, 250 m away, is an easy walk for the evening, and the Patpong Museum and the Silom Square market are nearby too. The Thai Red Cross Museum is also close by.
A good day could start at the Grand Palace, 4.8 km away, where Wat Phra Kaew sits inside the palace walls. From there, Wat Arun is on the Chao Phraya riverbank at a similar distance, and the two temples make a full morning. Back in Silom, the Silom Square market and the Patpong Night Market are good for an evening wander, and the Patpong Museum is a short stop between them.
