Jim Thompson House, 2.5 km away, is a historic house museum of Thai silk and art, and the Chatuchak Weekend Market, 3.5 km away, is a large market that operates at weekends. On the Thonburi bank of the Chao Phraya, Wat Arun is a riverside temple with a tall, ornate prang.

A good day could start at the Chatuchak Weekend Market, which runs at weekends, and continue with Jim Thompson House in the afternoon. For the temples of the old city, including the Grand Palace, the trip from here is longer, so allow extra time for the journey.
