Betong is a small town in Yala province, in Thailand's far south, with a quiet, provincial feel and a compact centre that is easy to explore on foot. The guesthouse sits in the town itself, so the clock tower and the main sights are within a short walk.

The clock tower stands about 100 m away, and the Street Art viewpoint is 200 m off, both near the centre. The Betong District Municipality Fresh Market is 300 m away and is a good place to see daily life in town. Wat Phutthathiwat, a Buddhist temple, is 550 m off, and the mailbox billed as the world's largest is 550 m too.

A relaxed walk could start at the market, take in the temple and the mailbox, and finish at the clock tower. Parking nearby is free, so a car is handy for trips further afield. A longer day can also take in OK Batong, further out of town, before returning to the centre.
