The neighbourhood mixes office towers, shopping centres and street-food stalls, and the city's main lines make it easy to reach the rest of Bangkok by train.

Terminal 21 Asok shopping mall is in the same neighbourhood, and Siam Paragon, 2.8 km away, is one of the largest shopping centres in the Siam area. Benchakitti Forest Park is a green urban park with a lake and walking paths, and Chatuchak Weekend Market, 7.2 km away, is a large weekend market in the north of the city. The Grand Palace, 7.4 km away, sits in the old city beside the river, while Suvarnabhumi Airport lies 21.4 km away.

A full day could begin at the Grand Palace and the temples of the old city, with Wat Arun on the opposite bank of the river, and end back in Sukhumvit, where the shopping and street food are a short ride away by BTS. For a quieter start to the day, Benchakitti Forest Park offers a walk around its lake. The streets near the BTS stations stay busy into the evening, with food stalls and shops open along them.
