Further afield, Long Beach is a long stretch of sand 2.9 km away, and Lanta Old Town, a historic village, is 7.8 km away. Kantiang Bay is a sandy bay on the island, and Mu Ko Lanta National Park covers forest and coastline across much of the island. The island has no airport or bridge: Krabi International Airport is 59 km away on the mainland, so the last stage of the journey is by boat, and a motorbike or car is useful for reaching the beaches and the national park.

A good day could start at Khlong Khong Beach, continue to Lanta Old Town, and end with a visit to Khlong Chak Waterfall, 13.1 km away inside the national park. During the monsoon months, sea conditions can affect boat crossings to the island. Mu Ko Lanta National Park covers the waterfall and the forest around it, so the park and the island's beaches make a full day out from the village.
