For longer trips, the Sam Yot MRT station is nearby, and the Phra Arthit pier on the river offers ferry links along the Chao Phraya.

A good day can start at the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, then continue to Wat Arun by crossing the river. The Bangkok National Museum is a short walk away, and Wat Chana Songkhram is also close, so the old temples and the evening life of Khao San Road sit close together.
