Wat Chalong, one of the island's most important temples, is 7.7 km away, and Patong Beach is 10.8 km away. Phuket International Airport is 26.8 km away, and Phuket is linked to the mainland by road, so a taxi or hired car gets you to the beaches and temples across the island.

The Peranakan Museum and the Phuket Philatelic Museum are both a few minutes' walk away, so a museum visit fits easily into the morning. A day here can start with a walk through the old town, where many of the shophouses are a short walk away, and end at one of the night markets. Then continue with a longer trip to Patong for the beach or to the Big Buddha on Nakkerd Hills. Phuket is a large island, so plan a full day for the beaches across it.
