For a full day of sightseeing, the Chatuchak Weekend Market is a large weekend market in north Bangkok, and the Grand Palace and Wat Arun are in the old city, a longer trip into the centre. Getting from this northern side of the city to the centre takes time, by taxi or public transport, so it helps to plan your sightseeing in advance and to allow extra time for the journey back. The Chatuchak Weekend Market and the old city are both worth a full day, and the return trip is best planned before you set out.
