Siam Paragon, the large shopping centre in the Siam area, is one of the nearby landmarks, and the Jim Thompson House, the former home of the American-born silk entrepreneur Jim Thompson, is now a museum. The Chatuchak Weekend Market, 4.4 km away, is a sprawling weekend market with thousands of stalls.

A day in this part of Bangkok could begin at the Jim Thompson House, continue through the Siam area, and end with a trip to the Grand Palace, 5.7 km away, and Wat Arun on the Chao Phraya river.
