The Chatuchak Weekend Market and the Grand Palace are further afield and need a longer trip.

A good day can start at the Jim Thompson House, then move on to Siam Paragon by BTS. For a longer outing, the Grand Palace and Wat Arun sit on the Chao Phraya river and make a full day in old Bangkok, a contrast to the Sukhumvit area. Back at the hotel, the garden and the library offer a quieter place to rest.
