Sathorn 111 - 301 is on Soi Thian Siang in Thung Maha Mek, a residential lane in Sathorn, one of Bangkok's main business districts. Office towers line the main roads, but the side streets are quieter, with embassies, older houses and a canal park close by. Street-food stalls and small shops line the side streets near the stations, so the area feels calmer than the night streets of the main tourist centres.

The skytrain is the easiest way into the rest of the city: Chong Nonsi BTS Station is 500 m away and Saint Louis station is 650 m away, both on the Silom Line. From there the shopping centre Siam Paragon is 2.9 km away and Jim Thompson House, the teak-built home of the American silk merchant, is 3.2 km away. Chong Nonsi Canal Park is 200 m from the building, a green spot for a short break between trips.

For a full day out, take the skytrain toward the old city and visit the Grand Palace and the temples of Wat Arun and Wat Phra Chetuphon. Wat Arun sits on the opposite bank of the Chao Phraya and is reached by river boat, so the day can be combined with a river crossing and a return to Sathorn by skytrain. Chatuchak Weekend Market is a longer trip across the city, better kept for a separate day.
