Location & what to see
Sairee Center sits on Ko Tao, a small island in the Gulf of Thailand that is known above all for diving. Sairee Beach is a long, lively stretch of sand lined with dive schools and small cafés, and the hostel is about 350 m from it, within an easy walk of the sand. The beach road runs past dive schools, small shops and cafés, so everyday needs are close by.
The nearby sights are a short ride or walk away. The Top of the rock lookout is 1.2 km from the hostel and the Coconut Viewpoint is 1.3 km away. Haad Sairee and the small bay of Ao Hat Sai Ri lie on the same stretch of coast, and Koh Nang Yuan, a group of small islets connected by sandbars, is 2.7 km away and reached by boat. The ferry pier is 1.9 km away, and for the farther bays a scooter or taxi is the simplest way to go.
A good day could start with a swim at Sairee Beach, then a walk up to the Top of the rock lookout and a boat trip to Koh Nang Yuan in the afternoon. Boat trips depend on sea conditions, which can be rougher during the rainy months, so the day's plans may need to change.
