A good day out combines the beach with the temples: spend the morning on Patong's sand, then head to Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha. The beach is about 1 km from the hotel, so a swim fits easily into a day here. Phuket FantaSea, a cultural show and theme park, can fill the evening, and Phuket Town, with its old Sino-Portuguese streets, is a longer trip for a different side of the island. Those planning a longer stay can use Patong as a base for trips to Karon and Kata, both reached along the coast road.
