The Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) is 750 m away, inside the same complex as the palace, while Wat Phra Chetuphon, known as Wat Pho for its reclining Buddha, is 1.2 km away and Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn on the far bank of the Chao Phraya, is 1.6 km away. The Sam Yot MRT station is nearby, and the river piers close to the hotel make a boat trip along the Chao Phraya possible.

A first day can start at the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, continue to Wat Arun by river, and finish on Khaosan Road once the street comes alive after dark. The large Chatuchak Weekend Market is further north, so it makes a separate outing for a weekend rather than a stop on the way.
