Within a few hundred metres are local temples such as Wat Sunthon Thammathan, together with the Nangloeng Market and the Saphan Khao Fruit Market. Khaosan Road is 1.7 km away, and the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha are about 2.5 km away, in the old city's royal temple district. Public transport stops are about 850 m away, and the Jim Thompson House, a museum of Thai silk and art set in traditional teak houses, is a short ride away. Wat Arun stands on the opposite bank of the Chao Phraya river.

A full day can start at the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, continue to Wat Pho and the Jim Thompson House, and end the evening along Khaosan Road. Wat Arun is reached by boat across the river, and the Chatuchak Weekend Market, 6 km away on the northern edge of the city, is best visited at the weekend.
