Wat Arun is across the Chao Phraya river, and the Phra Arthit and Phra Pin Klao piers on the river are nearby. The Democracy Monument on Ratchadamnoen Avenue and Wat Bowon Niwet Ratchaworawihan, a pagoda in the neighbourhood, are also close by. The Sam Yot MRT station is nearby.

A good day here starts at the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, then takes a ferry across the river to Wat Arun, and ends with an evening on Khao San Road. For a day out of the centre, the Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of the largest markets in Thailand, is 7.1 km away.
