Si Lom MRT station is 750 m away and Sala Daeng BTS station is 800 m away, so the metro and the Skytrain are both an easy walk. Jim Thompson House, a museum of Thai silk set in traditional teak houses, is 3.1 km away, and Asiatique - The Riverfront, a shopping and dining complex on the Chao Phraya river, is 4.3 km away.

The old city is further north along the river: the Grand Palace is 5.9 km away, and Wat Arun, the temple with its tall spire on the Chao Phraya riverbank, is a short trip beyond it, and reaching it means crossing the river to the west bank. Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of Bangkok's largest weekend markets, is a separate outing across town, best kept for a day with plenty of time.
