A good day could take in Wat Arun and The Grand Palace, then return to the river for an evening at Asiatique. The Grand Palace sits in the old city, where many of the historic temples are close together. The Jim Thompson House, the former home of the American silk entrepreneur Jim Thompson, now a museum, makes a good stop in the afternoon, and Suvarnabhumi Airport is 26.5 km away.
