The area has many restaurants, bars and massage shops along the beach road, so there is plenty to do in the evening. Kalim Beach, a quieter stretch of sand, is also close by.

Bangla Road, the street of bars and nightlife, is 1.5 km away. Chaithararam Temple (Wat Chalong), Phuket's most revered Buddhist temple, is 7.9 km away, and the Big Buddha on its hilltop is 9 km away, with views across the island. Phuket International Airport is 22.7 km away and sits on the island too, so the journey from the airport is by road. Because the sights are spread across the island, a taxi or a hired vehicle is useful for the temples and the Big Buddha.

A day could start on Patong Beach, continue with a boat trip to Freedom Beach, a small secluded cove, and finish in the evening on Bangla Road and at the night market. Phuket's other beaches, such as Karon and Kata, are an easy trip by road from Patong.
