For a day out, take a taxi to the Surat Thani Night Market in the evening, when the stalls are open. Ferries to Ko Samui, Ko Pha-ngan and Ko Tao leave from the Don Sak pier, a drive from the town, so a boat day is a good plan to build around your stay.
