Further afield, Chaithararam Temple, known as Wat Chalong, is one of the island's most revered temples, and Big Buddha Phuket, 8.8 km away, is a large white statue on a hilltop with views over the island.

A good day could begin on Patong Beach and continue to Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha. The sand is the easiest starting point, and Bangla Road is the usual choice for an evening out once the day's visits are done. Phuket International Airport is 22.8 km away, and guests arriving by air reach Patong by road from there, which keeps the last leg of the journey simple.
