Phu Nga Hotel stands in Phang Nga town, the capital of Phang Nga Province in southern Thailand, where daily life runs at the pace of a provincial town rather than a resort area. Ao Phang Nga, the bay with its limestone karst islands, is 1.9 km away, so the hotel is a base for trips toward the bay.

The Phang Nga Bus Station, 2.8 km away, is the link for onward bus travel, and Tha Dan Pier, 1.5 km away, is the nearest pier. Nearby are the Phang Nga Museum and Prasrinakrin Park, a town park with green space for an easy stroll, and the Phangnga Chatuchak Weekend Market, 3.6 km away, runs at weekends.

A full day could start with a slow walk through Prasrinakrin Park and continue with a visit to the Phang Nga Museum, for background on the province before you head out toward the bay. The day can end at the weekend market if it is running, and the bus station is the way to reach other towns on a later trip. For a day out toward the bay, Ao Phang Nga is the main draw, and its limestone scenery is best seen from the water.
