There is no bridge to the mainland, so visitors arrive by boat, and the bays and beaches of the island are reached on foot or by boat. The landscape is a mix of limestone hills, turquoise water and small coves, and the hills rise steeply behind the bays. The village of Ton Sai, with its piers and small shops, is the island's main hub for boats and ferries.

The Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint, 600 m from the bungalow, looks out over the bays on either side of the isthmus and is one of the best-known lookouts on the island. The walk up to it is a short climb from the village, and the views over the bays are the reason it is so popular. Ton Sai Pier, the ferry terminal, is 1.2 km away, and Ton Sai Beach is 1.4 km away, close to the village and its lanes. Phi Phi Market is about 1 km away, in the village area.

For a day out, start at the viewpoint, then head to the beaches and take a boat trip for snorkelling, which is one of the island's main attractions. Krabi International Airport is 45.2 km away on the mainland, so the last stretch of any journey from there is by boat.
