Bangla Road, 1.5 km away, is the street of bars and clubs that gives Patong its nightlife. Karon Beach, the next bay along the coast, offers a longer stretch of sand, and the Big Buddha on its hilltop is further away, with views over the island. Phuket International Airport is about 25.6 km away, on the same island, so the trip from the airport stays on Phuket.

A good day could start on Patong Beach, continue with lunch and a walk through the Dragon Night Market, and end at Phuket FantaSea, the big cultural show with an evening performance. The Big Buddha is worth a trip out of town for the view, and Karon Beach makes a pleasant change for an afternoon on the sand.
