Further out, Chaithararam Temple (Wat Chalong) is 6.4 km away, and the Big Buddha Phuket, a large seated statue on a hilltop, is 7.5 km away. Walking around the lanes after dark is one of the easiest ways to see the town.

A day could start on Patong Beach, continue with a visit to the temple of Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha on its hilltop, and end with dinner at one of the night markets. The streets near Bangla Road stay busy into the evening, which suits a late start to the day as much as a late finish.
