Local sights are close by. Wat Pho, a pagoda 1.1 km away, and the Night Market are the easiest first stops, while the Bulao Malayu Mosque and the village of Baan Kai are also nearby. Haad Baan Tai is a second beach in the same area, and Haad Rin Nai beach, at Haad Rin, is 3.4 km away. Ko Pha-ngan has no bridge, so the nearest airport, Samui Airport on Ko Samui, 16.6 km away, is reached by a boat connection.

A first day could start with a swim at Haad Baan Kai, then a visit to Wat Pho and an evening at the Night Market. Walking along the beach in the late afternoon is an easy way to see the coast, and Thong Nai Pan Yai beach and Ao Chaloklum bay are worth a longer trip further around the island. Diving and fishing are offered, and the Haad Rin area is the place for the island's full moon parties, if you want something livelier.
