Khaosan Road is 200 m away, and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew), at 950 m, sits inside the Grand Palace grounds, which are 1.1 km from the hotel. Wat Arun is 1.9 km away across the Chao Phraya river, and the Bangkok National Museum, housed in a former royal palace, is 400 m away.

A good day starts at the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, then continues by longtail boat or a riverboat from the Phra Arthit pier to Wat Arun on the far bank. The riverside piers link the old city with the far bank, so several temples and museums can be seen in a single day. The old city's temples, palaces and museums are close enough to explore on foot, and Sam Yot MRT station and Wang Burapha train station are also nearby for trips further across the city.
