Trang Airport is 4.2 km away and Trang Railway Station is 4.6 km away, so the town is simple to reach by air or by train. Islands off the Trang coast, such as Ko Libong, are reached by boat, so a day trip there is a boat excursion from the mainland. The town has the everyday rhythm of a provincial centre, with traffic, markets and shophouses.

Sritrang Market is 3 km away and is the place for fresh food and everyday goods. A good day could begin there, continue to the Trang Municipal Park and the Trang Clock Tower, and end at the Nightmarket in the evening. Trang is known for its food, and khao kha moo, braised pork leg served on rice, is a local speciality worth trying. Trang Bus Station is also in the area for travel by road.
