Trips into the centre are easiest by train and taxi, and the Grand Palace and Wat Arun, both on the Chao Phraya river, are a long way south, so set aside a full day for them. Rangsit is a quieter starting point than the riverside districts, and an early train leaves more time for the sights. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha stands inside the Grand Palace complex and is worth an early start. Chatuchak Weekend Market is open on Saturdays and Sundays, and Asiatique on the riverfront is an evening option.
