It works for travellers who want the beach without being in the middle of the nightlife.

Around the guesthouse, the Night Market is a short walk away, and the Wat Nai pagoda and Wat Pho temple are close enough to visit on foot. Thong Nai Pan Yai Beach is 8.7 km away, a sandy beach that makes a good day trip, and Ao Chaloklum Bay is 10.2 km away. Samui Airport on the neighbouring island of Ko Samui is 17.4 km away across the water, so the last part of the journey is by ferry or boat.

A day out could include the Phangan Elephant Sanctuary or the Phaeng Noi waterfall, both a trip rather than a short walk. Back in Ban Tai, Haad Baan Tai beach and the temples make for a relaxed afternoon, and songthaew pick-up trucks and scooters are the usual way to get between villages.
