Benjakitti Park is close by, a large green space with a museum, and Khlong Toei Market is also in the area. Siam Paragon, the big shopping mall on Rama I Road, is 4.3 km away, while Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is 20.2 km away.

For a day in the old city, the Grand Palace is 8.6 km away, and Wat Arun, a riverside temple with a tall prang, stands on the opposite bank of the Chao Phraya. A good plan is to take the metro into the centre in the morning, visit the palace and the temples, and return to the calm lanes of Khlong Tan in the evening. The Chatuchak Weekend Market is a much longer trip across the city, and it is best saved for a weekend morning.
