The beach and the boats leaving from its pier shape the daily life of the area, and the bay makes it a base for day trips rather than a quiet village stay.

Ao Nang Beach is 2.1 km from Mookanda Residence, and the Railay peninsula lies across the water, reachable only by longtail boat. Railay has no road access, and its cliffs and beaches are the reason many visitors make the crossing. Phra Nang Cave, with its shrine, sits on the Railay shore, and Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea) is 13.2 km away, where a long staircase climbs the hillside to shrines. Krabi International Airport is 16.9 km away, the nearest airport to the area.

A full day can start with a longtail boat from the Ao Nang pier to Railay or to the Hong Islands, a group of islands with lagoons inside them, 40.5 km away. Back on the mainland, the Ao-Nang Landmark Night Market is nearby, and Tiger Cave Temple makes a separate outing for the afternoon.
