For a day out, combine a morning on Patong Beach with an afternoon at Wat Chalong or the Big Buddha, which are the main sights of the south-eastern side of the island. The town is compact enough to walk between the beach, the shops and the bars, so a full day can be spent in Patong alone. Phuket International Airport is 23.2 km away, so the transfer from the airport is the longest part of the journey.
