Siam Paragon, a large shopping centre, is 2.5 km away, and Jim Thompson House, a museum in a group of traditional Thai houses set around a garden, lies 3.1 km off. Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of the largest markets in Bangkok, is 5.4 km away and open at weekends. The Grand Palace, Wat Arun and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha are further away, across the Chao Phraya river.

A good day could begin at Jim Thompson House, followed by shopping at Siam Paragon in the afternoon. Chatuchak takes a full morning or afternoon on a weekend, with food stalls and clothing and craft sellers across many market lanes, so it is worth setting aside the whole day.
