Further afield, the Big Buddha, a white statue on a hill, is 5.7 km away, and Chaithararam Temple, known as Wat Chalong, is one of the island's most important Buddhist temples at 5.9 km.

Karon Beach, the neighbouring beach, is a longer stretch of sand that is also reached by road. Phuket International Airport is 26.5 km away, and an airport shuttle service is offered for an extra charge. A good day could combine a swim at Patong Beach in the morning with an evening walk through the bars and shops of the town, and a separate day could be spent at the Big Buddha and Wat Chalong, both reached by road from Patong, with the temple a short visit in its own right.
