Several local markets are within a short walk, and a Hindu shrine stands at the Huai Khwang junction nearby, where the streets are lively in the daytime. Chatuchak Weekend Market is 3 km away and is a larger draw for weekend shopping and food. Don Mueang International Airport is 14.5 km away and Suvarnabhumi Airport is 21.9 km away.

For a day in the old city, the Grand Palace is 9.7 km away, with the Temple of the Emerald Buddha inside its walls. At that distance a taxi is the most practical way to reach it from the apartment. Wat Arun, on the Chao Phraya riverbank, is 10.3 km away, so a trip to the old city can take in both temples and the river without much planning between them. Plan the trip around the metro and taxi options, which cover most of the day's journeys.
