Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of the largest weekend markets in Bangkok, is 14 km away, and the Grand Palace is 21.8 km away by taxi or public transport. The international Suvarnabhumi Airport is about 30 km away, so international flights need the longer trip.

A classic day starts at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the Grand Palace, which are next to each other, and continues to Wat Arun across the Chao Phraya river. In the evening, the Asiatique riverfront complex, on the same river, is a good place to walk and eat before returning to the north of the city.
