Thalang Road, the historic street of shophouses in the old town, and the Lard Yai Sunday Night Market (550 m) are close by, and Plein Poa Night Market lies 600 m away. Chaithararam Temple (Wat Chalong) is further out, and Patong Beach is a drive across the island.

A day in town could begin with a morning walk along Thalang Road and a visit to one of the museums, then move on to the night markets in the evening. For the sea, the beaches on the west coast, Patong included, are best reached by car, so a beach day fits well alongside a stay in town.
