The Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) is 1.6 km away and the Grand Palace is 1.8 km away, both on Rattanakosin island, the historic core of Bangkok. Wat Arun, with its tall porcelain-decorated spire, stands across the Chao Phraya river at 2.5 km.

A good day here starts with the temples of Rattanakosin, which are an easy walk, then a boat across the river to Wat Arun. In the evening, the bars, street food and guesthouses of Khaosan Road are close by, and the river piers in the area make it simple to reach other parts of the city. The Chatuchak Weekend Market, a large market open at weekends, is farther out and is worth a separate trip.
