The island combines beaches with old villages and national park forest, and many visitors come for a slower pace with the beach, the water and the forest close at hand.

Kantiang Bay, 800 m away, is another sandy bay that makes an easy second beach to visit. Sala Dan Pier, the ferry pier, lies 1.6 km from the bungalow. Lanta Old Town and Mu Ko Lanta National Park are further afield, the national park covering islands and coastline around the island. Khlong Chak Waterfall is 20 km away, and Koh Lanta is reached by ferry from the mainland, so the first part of any trip ends on a boat.

A good day could begin on Klong Dao Beach, continue to Kantiang Bay and finish at Lanta Old Town, or take in the waterfall for a change of scene. Plan the trip from the mainland as a boat journey, since the island has no airport of its own.
