Suvarnabhumi Airport is 15.2 km away, and the old city sights such as the Grand Palace (17.3 km) and Wat Arun (17.1 km) lie further in, so most visitors plan them as a separate outing.

A good day could combine a morning at Asiatique, the riverside complex on the Chao Phraya, with an afternoon at the Jim Thompson House, the former home of the American silk entrepreneur, now a museum. Back in the neighbourhood, the TT Market at Bearing is a short walk for food and everyday goods. Parks such as Chaloem Phrakiat park and Phuti Anun Park are close enough for a walk before the day's outings begin.
