Koh Yao Yai Village sits on the west coast of Koh Yao Yai, a secluded island in Phang-Nga Bay with no road link to Phuket, so the last part of the journey is by boat. The island has rice fields, rainforest and rubber plantations, and the hotel's village-style villas look out over the bay. The bay is the main view from the property, and the forested islands in it can be reached by sailing. Ao Hin Kong, a village bay about 100 m away, is the nearest place of interest.

On the island you can walk through the rice fields and rainforest, and cycling is the natural way to cover the interior, past the rubber plantations and between the rice fields. Laem Had Beach is 4 km away, and the Laem Had viewpoint is 5.6 km away. Chong Lard Pier, a ferry terminal, is 5.8 km from the hotel, and the forested islands are the other main day out from the village.

A good day could start with a cycle through the rubber plantations, then a sail to the forested islands before returning to the village bay for the evening. Phuket International Airport is 33.7 km away, and the trip from there includes a boat crossing.
