Koh YAO Yai Hillside Resort

Every room at Koh YAO Yai Hillside Resort has air conditioning. Sizes run from 35 m² to 161 m², and the accommodation includes superior rooms, deluxe rooms with a sea view or a jacuzzi, and villas with a private pool or a balcony or terrace.

Beds range from a double bed to a king bed, and some rooms add a sofa bed, while one villa sleeps up to seven guests. Many rooms have a private bathroom with toiletries, a balcony or terrace and blackout curtains, and wireless internet access is provided in each room. Pool villas and sea-view rooms are among the choices, so guests can pick the setting they prefer.

Koh Yao Yai is an island in Phang Nga Bay, between Phuket and the Thai mainland, and life on it moves at a slower pace than on the busy beaches of Phuket. Fishing villages line parts of the shore, and Ban Khlong Bon, a village, is 350 m from the resort, with the village sitting close to the water and the resort a short distance from it.

Laem Had Beach is 2 km from the resort, and the Laem Had viewpoint is 3.5 km away. Chong Lard Pier, one of the island's ferry terminals, and a fish farm attraction are both 3.8 km away, and Phuket International Airport is on the larger island beyond the bay. Short distances between the beach, the viewpoint and the pier make this part of the island practical to explore on foot or by bicycle.

A good day here could start with a bicycle ride from the resort to Laem Had Beach, followed by a walk to the viewpoint and a visit to the pier, where the boats to and from the mainland run. After a day out, the resort's restaurant and bar/lounge are close by for dinner and a drink. The sea can be rough in the rainy months, which can disrupt boat trips.
