Jim Thompson House, the former home of the American silk entrepreneur Jim Thompson, is set in a garden and is 3.4 km away. The Chatuchak Weekend Market, open on weekends, sells clothes, food, plants and crafts.

A full day could start at the Grand Palace, 7.3 km from the hotel, which stands next to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. From there, a river boat crosses the Chao Phraya to Wat Arun, one of the best-known temples in Bangkok, whose tall central prang is visible from the water. Khaosan Road, the backpacker street with bars and street food, is close to the same area.
