Khaosok Sunset Resort

All the rooms at Khaosok Sunset Resort measure 27 m² and share air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, an electric kettle and a hair dryer. The choice runs from double and twin rooms for two guests to family rooms that sleep up to four, so couples, friends and families travelling together can all find a room.

Beds vary by room: the doubles have a king bed, the twin room has two single beds, and the family rooms combine a king bed with a bunk bed. Each room has a shower, toiletries and towels, and rooms can also have a desk, an in-room safe box, a mini bar and a refrigerator.

The outdoor swimming pool is open year-round, and the resort also has a garden, a terrace and a minimarket on site. Canoeing and hiking are offered, and bicycle parking is available for guests.

Khao Sok is a valley in the hills of Surat Thani province in southern Thailand, where limestone ridges rise above dense rainforest. It is a quiet, green corner of the country, far from the beaches of the coast, and it draws travellers who want to spend their days outdoors rather than by the sea. The national park covers a large part of the surrounding hills, so the forest is never far away. Days here are spent mostly outdoors, on walks and in the water rather than at the beach.

Khao Sok National Park is 850 m from the resort, and its rainforest trails are a main reason to visit the valley. Wing Hin waterfall is 1.7 km away, and the Khao Sok Valley Viewpoint, at 1.5 km, looks out over the limestone hills. Wat Tham Panthurat, a Buddhist temple, and a forest pond where wild monkeys can be seen are both about 1.1 km away, while the Mae Yai waterfall is a longer journey away.

A good day starts on the national park trails in the morning, then moves to the viewpoint and a swim in the resort pool in the afternoon. Surat Thani Airport is the nearest airport, reached by road, and the resort offers an airport transfer.
