Wat Arun, a riverside temple with a tall central prang, is 1.9 km away on the bank of the Chao Phraya River. Wat Chana Songkhram, a pagoda, and the Bangkok National Museum are also nearby. Ferry piers on the Chao Phraya are a short distance from the hotel, and river boats link the old city with other riverside areas.

For a full day, start at the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, continue to Wat Arun by river, and end on Khaosan Road in the evening, when the bars and street-food stalls are at their busiest.
